Cover Progress 7

There was a space which I thought left the cover looking blank in that area if it was not filled. I added a circle with an outer glow. Inside the circle is another article in the magazine but it is less important than the main one, therefore it only takes up a small space.

I felt that the text which was to the left of the model didn't really fit because it didn't stand out much. To solve this problem, I placed a black bar to the right of him so there would be a place for the 'Also Featuring' section. I changed the text to white because the background was black. Another thing I added was a bar running along the bottom of the page which contained additional features of the magazine. I made the 'PLUS!' bigger than the rest of the section so it would catch the readers' eye.

To fill in more space, I added a list of other bands to show what would be featured inside the magazine. I used the same font as the 'Goes Solo' so there wasn't too many, making it look overcrowded.

Changing the background left a green tint on the model's hair. To fix this I used the colour replacement tool, which removed the green.

After I added the title and strapline, I thought the colour of the model was a bit yellow due to the lighting so I removed the yellow tint to brighten his face up. Another thing I did was move the masthead behind the model's head because this has been used in many existing magazine covers. To achieve this, I had to remove the background of the green screen which I had changed to grey. Once I did this, I placed in a grey rectangle to take the place.

Next, I decided to add a strapline across the top of the cover to fill in more space and show what is inside the magazine. I also added a main cover line so readers would be more interested in the article which is inside the magazine, I matched the colour to the masthead to fit with the house style and because the colour yellow is quite bold. I changed the colour of the price, date and website to white so it could stand out more against the model's shirt.

Cover Progress 1

At the beginning of the editing process of my front cover, I decided to add all of the important details first, such as: the masthead, title, bar code, date and website. I added a drop shadow to the masthead to make it stand out more, the same was also done with the text 'Danny Hall' but with an outer glow. The photo was taken in front of a green screen so I used the magic eraser tool to change the background to grey which made the cover look more professional.
